It can sometimes be difficult not to take things personally – and no one knows this better than Victoria Beckham. After all, it was only two months ago that the fashion designer was busy planning some kind of reality show that would follow her, David and the kids baking, crafting and playing together in their family home. What’s not to like about that for Brand Beckham?
Apparently a lot, because according to insiders, David has now gone off the idea.
But last week, things got very awkward indeed after it was reported that the former footballer was instead eyeing up deals to front his own cookery show, and was even hooking up with close friend Gordon Ramsay to pitch a new series to Netflix. Needless to say, Victoria’s feeling rather miffed by David’s solo project.
“Things have been quite tense in the Beckham household lately,” says an insider close to the couple, who are still isolating in their Cotswolds home with their three younger children, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and eight-year- old Harper, while Brooklyn, 21, remains in the US.
“David’s really keen to boost his solo brand right now, and he’s excited about the idea of filming this cookery show. But Vic feels as though she’s been left out in the cold. She doesn’t see why they couldn’t do a project like this as a couple, especially as their cooking together on Insta stories went down so well. David wasn’t sure about doing an‘at home’ reality show, but it now feels like he just didn’t want to do something with her.
David has assured Vic it’s nothing personal, he just wasn’t keen on putting the whole family further into the spotlight. But she feels completely snubbed.”

As heat has reported, Posh has been getting more and more anxious in recent weeks at the prospect of spending so much time away from David once lockdown is over – when he’ll be back in Florida overseeing his football team Inter Miami, and she’ll be based in London. According to our source, David’s decision to branch into reality TV by himself can only widen any gap between them.
Meanwhile, the timing couldn’t be worse, as the pair also came under fire last week from their Cotswolds neighbours, after applying to build a gatehouse in front of their mansion for two 24-hour security guards.
The couple submitted plans “to improve security for occupants of the property” as they were feeling increasingly unsafe in their sprawling abode – especially after footballer Dele Alli was held at knifepoint in his Hertfordshire home. However, their request was promptly slammed by their neighbours, who told reporters that it would “ruin the ambience” of the village and was “totally out of keeping” with the area.
According to insiders, this has left Posh feeling embarrassed and vulnerable – and what she sees as David’s TV snub is not helping to lift her mood.
“Vic has so much to deal with right now – trying to do the right thing with her fashion business and also making sure the kids are getting home-schooled,” says our source. “The only reason she wanted to do something together as a family was because it would mean they’d get to spend more time together. But it feels as if David is on a completely different wavelength.”
