Sad news for The Voice UK fans as it has been confirmed that the singing competition will be leaving the BBC! But don't fret - it's been picked up by someone else.

Apparently the Beeb was unwilling to enter a bidding war for the show so Series 5 will be the final time it airs on the network.

A statement by BBC acting director Mark Linsey read: ‘The BBC is incredibly proud of The Voice, but the fifth series which starts in January will be our last.

'We always said we wouldn't get into a bidding war or pay inflated prices to keep the show, and it's testament to how the BBC has built the programme up - and established it into a mainstay of the Saturday night schedule - that another broadcaster has poached it.’

Interestingly, ITV purchased The Voice production company Talpa for £355m earlier this year, does this mean the show will be moving to the rival channel?

_The Voice UK r_eturns to the BBC for the final time next January, with Boy George and Paloma Faith joining will.i.am and Ricky Wilson acting as mentors.
