Want to know who killed Lucy Beale? Vital EastEnders clue unveiled TONIGHT at National Television Awards

We’ve literally been waiting DECADES to find out who killed Lucy Beale in EastEnders – alright, so that’s a slight exaggeration because, as of today, we’ve actually been waiting nine months and three days, or 278 days in total.

And there’s not much longer to wait, as the killer will be revealed in a special 30th anniversary episode of the show next month.

But if you are on the verge of exploding with desperation over finding out who the murderer is, you’re going to like this, because a vital clue to the ‘who killed Lucy’ plotline will be given away live during tonight’s National Television Awards. Yay!

The NTA bosses have been locked away in lengthy discussions with BBC executives and EastEnders producers, and soap bigwigs have allowed the clue to be brought on stage guarded by full security in tonight's ceremony.

A statement reads: “EastEnders are keeping their cards close to their chest, not even divulging the information to NTA execs.

“The clue will remain under lock and key, guarded by tight security until mid-show, when BBC security will bring the clue on stage, to be revealed live on air.”

We were SO CLOSE to finding out the killer’s identity when Max Branning’s policewoman girlfriend Emma Summerhayes appeared to discover their name but then she went and died after she was hit by a car. Selfish.

BUT she was rather hostile towards Max right before the smash and Lucy had a fling with Max before she was murdered – could it be him? Or is it Max’s daughter and Lucy’s best friend Lauren Branning who lied to police about where she was the night of Lucy's death? WE NEED TO KNOW!
