WATCH: 15 celebrities who are fluent in other languages

Did you know that Will Smith can speak Spanish or Colin Firth can speak Italian? We're not talking the occasional word, we mean fluently! Here are 15 celebrities who can speak languages other than English, whether it's because of where they grew up, their parents or they just the country and its language.

1) Mila Kunis (Russian)

Mila moved to Los Angeles from the Ukraine at the age of seven and grew up bilingual. Here she is speaking in Russian.

2) Sandra Bullock (German)

Sandra was raised in Germany with a German mum and an American dad. Until the age of 18 she held dual American-German citizenship, after a gap of many years she reapplied for German citizenship in 2009.

3) Gwyneth Paltrow (Spanish)

Gwyneth travelled to Spain when she was young and fell in love with the country and the language. The actress is now conversant in the language as the clip below shows.

4 & 5) Johnny and Lily-Rose Depp (French)

Father and daughter Johnny and Lily-Rose Depp both speak French fluently. In the late 1990s Jonny had a relationship with French actress Vanessa Paradis and they had two children, including Lily-Rose.

6) Colin Firth (Italian)

Colin learnt Italian to impress his future parents-in-law and it paid off! He has been married to Livia Giuggioli since 1997.

7) Leonardo DiCaprio (German)

Despite his Italian name, Leonardo, who has a German mum, actually speaks fluent German (as well as Italian). So he's multi-lingual!

8) Natalie Portman (Hebrew)

Born in Jerusalem, Natalie moved to the US when she was just three, however she attended a Jewish school where she learnt Hebrew.

9) Joseph Gordon-Levitt (French)

Star of 3rd Rock From The Sun and Inception, Joseph Gordon-Levitt studied history, literature, and French poetry at university and became an avid fan of the French language.

10) Will Smith (Spanish)

Will learnt his Spanish by speaking to people in Los Angeles and visiting Spain, which is one of his favourite countries.

11) Charlize Theron (Afrikaans)

Actress Charlize grew up in South Africa speaking Afrikaans, as a teenager she moved to the US with her mum.

12) Shakira (Multi-lingual)

Shakira can't just speak one, or two languages, she's actually pretty good in five! Here she is speaking Spanish, English, Italian, French and Portuguese!

13) Bradley Cooper (French)

Bradley did an exchange programme when he was at university spending time in France, and picked up the language pretty well! Here he is showing off his language skills.

14) Kim Cattrall (German)

Kim learnt German while living in the country with her second husband in the 80s.

15) Jodie Foster (French)

Jodie Foster went to a French school in Los Angeles and even worked in France when she was a teenager.
