Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy star alongside each in The Revenant and it. is. INTENSE.
The film, which reportedly made cast and crew highly uncomfortable due to freezing filming conditions, is tipped for Oscar nominations. Fans are also hoping this will finally be Leo's shot at grabbing his hands on one of those big, gold gongs.
*The Revenant *was filmed in Canada with director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s intentions not to use extensive CGI and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki’s fondness for natural light.
And by the looks of the trailer the setting paid off.
Set in 1823, it’s a grim revenge western about a fur trapper (DiCaprio) on the warpath after the murder of his son by a disloyal employee (Hardy).
Blood, murder, darkness, a bear mauling at Leonardo and almost killing him - this film has all the gore and should definitely be one of the - albeit unconventional - contenders for the Academy Awards next year.
