We’ve regularly reported on the strong alliance between WAGs Coleen Rooney and Annie Kilner. But now it seems Coleen’s husband Wayne is also proving himself to be something of a confidante – and has been giving his wife’s friend marriage advice.
During the recent school half-term holidays, former England ace Wayne, 39, coached a children’s football camp in Dubai, attended by his son Cass, six, as well as Annie and Kyle Walker’s third son, Reign, also six.
When Wayne wasn’t inspiring the next generation of promising footballers, he was photographed enjoying some downtime at Top Golf with his four boys, Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, as well as Annie, 32, and her boys Roman, 13, Riann, nine, Reign, and Rezon, 10 months, and former rugby player Jason Robinson’s family.
Now, heat has learnt that as AC Milan footballer Kyle, 34, remained in Italy while Annie travelled to Dubai, it was an opportunity for the mum of four to get advice from Wayne about her marriage troubles.
And considering he’s overcome past issues – including infidelity and drink-related incidents – during his marriage to Coleen, 38, we can only imagine he’s quite the experienced counsellor.
We’re told, ‘Wayne has become like Annie’s big brother. Her boys love him and he’s offered to help in any way he can. Normally, it’s Annie and Coleen hanging out while Kyle and Wayne pair up, but because Kyle wasn’t in Dubai, Annie spent more time chatting to Wayne and he was giving her good advice and support. Obviously, Wayne’s been the one in the wrong in the past, but he explained that it’s not always easy being a footballer in the limelight. He told her Kyle is really missing her and the boys, and is desperate for them to make it work.’
Childhood sweethearts Annie and Kyle – who wed in 2021 – saw their tumultuous relationship reach a head last January, when it was revealed Kyle was the father of Lauryn Goodman’s daughter Kinara, who was born in June 2023.
He previously fathered son Kairo, now four, with the influencer. Annie kicked him out of their home in Cheshire before serving him with divorce papers in October 2024.
And, while the exact state of their marriage has remained unclear since, our insider adds that Annie’s time in Dubai has given her food for thought.
‘Annie has seen Coleen and Wayne hit low points, but hanging out with them as a family in Dubai made her see that it could work out,’ we’re told.
‘She knows she can trust the Rooneys, and only Coleen can really understand what she is going through. She is slowly getting her confidence back.’
