Wayne Rooney joined Ed Sheeran for a duet in a pub and the result is ear-splittingly awful

Maybe just stick to kicking balls, yeah?

What springs to mind when you think of Wayne Rooney? Is it his performance on the football pitch (unlikely)? Is it his, er, willingness to spend quality time with the elderly? Or is it his as-yet untapped talent for rendering mere human words into the purest form of song?

Probably not the last one once you watch this video, tee-bee-aitch. Because Wayne Rooney – even when he’s being backed by one of the biggest chart-topping popstars of the moment – is all kinds of terrible when it comes to singing.

Yes, the Manchester United striker met up with actual Ed Sheeran in a pub after Ed’s gig last week, and they decided to entertain the regulars with a bit of a jamming sesh.

With Ed strumming on his guitar, Wayne perched on a stool in front of him and belted out the redheaded hit-maker’s single Lego House.

Unfortunately, not all of the crowd at the Sir Ralph Abercrombie pub in Manchester were that impressed with the entertainment on offer – one earwitness told the Sun that Wayne sounded “like a strangled cat”.

“Everyone was singing along and laughing but he showed he can take a joke.

“It was like a normal group of mates messing about in a pub but I’d definitely advise him not to give up the day job.”

Later that evening, rapper Example showed up and joined in with Wayne and Ed’s impromptu musical session. You know what that means, don’t you? If they all decide to form a band together, they’ve got no choice but to call themselves WEE.
