After news emerged last week that X Factor's Nick Grimshaw and Caroline Flack will not be continuing their roles on the show, there are now reports that one half of the show's presenting duo Olly Murs has been "given the chance to walk before he's pushed" according to reports by the Mail Online.

A source revealed to the Sunday Mirror that "Simon Cowell likes Olly and doesn't want him to go under a cloud so he's being given the chance to walk before he's pushed. Olly always said he would never present the show without Caroline. They come as a package. He had a good time on the show and got on very well with everyone but realises his forte is music".

Pop sensation Olly gained his success after appearing on The X Factor back in 2008 - but now it looks like it could be the very same show that forces him to shy away from our TV screens.

The Sunday Mirror also reported that the source added that "Olly has been in discussions with his management about whether he wants to continue with the show because he's started recording and writing for his new album". However, a spokesperson for The X Factor has confirmed that "No decisions have been taken about the new series of The X Factor".

Hmph. We do hope it's all just a rumour because we loved having good ol' Olly on our screens from week to week.
