Oh hey, hi. Don't mind us. We're just going back through every single email account we've had since we were 18, even the ones with those ridiculous nicknames in them that our school careers lady looked shocked at. Why? Er, just checking nothing from George Clooney got stuck in the junk folder.

Because it turns out email is the perfect way for George Clooney to land his lawyer fiancée Amal Alamuddin, which he apparently did after she refused to take his number at a charity event last September.

According to sources, Swooney then tracked down her email address and wrote to her saying: "I think the reported hottest man in the world should meet with the hottest human rights lawyer in the world."

He then bombarded her with a "string of flirty emails", which we presume isn't like the string of flirty emails we get from retailers of male enlargement products. :((((

A source said: "It was all very tongue in cheek but it got the ball rolling. Amal found it funny, but she still made him wait a few days before replying.

"It was George’s forward banter which ultimately got them talking. Once she replied that was it – it’s been non-stop ever since."

George, 55, has been married once before, to actress Talia Balsam between 1989 and 1993, but said he made a "lousy husband" when they split.

Back in 2007 he declared that he would never marry again, but it looks like Amal's refusal to send him back clips of funny internet cats really paid off.

We'll just check our MySpace inboxes though, just in case George has been trying to get in touch all these years…
