And now, kiddies, the return date has been officially released, sending us into a bit of a frenzy.
Are there gonna be any make-shift bands a la One Direction and Little Mix? Will we see some amazing funky renditions like when Ella Henderson sang Believe? And for god's sake will anyone be qualified to fill the Will Young and Gareth Gates shaped holes in our lives? It's been 15 years since Pop Idol and we're yet to find someone with spikes as impressive as our Gaz's.
Now, reality TV king Simon Cowell may have been getting a bit of jip for 'fix' claims over this year's contestants, but we're more excited by the prospect of a weekly Dermott dose.
And the return of Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, natch.
ITV and The X Factor played it out nicely over on Twitter, and did actually give us some LOLs as well as severe excitement cramps as we whizzed through the convo.
Plus this GIF of Simon was literally us.
And these pics of Louis' slowly approaching ears are both creepy and hilarious in equal measure.
So, heat readers, are you ready for it?
