The singers met on the ITV talent contest last year and Stevi proposed with a sparkling diamond ring which he hid in a £10 handbag.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Stevi wrote: "Hi everyone we are very pleased to announce that me and @CHLOEJASMINEW are engaged I am over the moon thank you peeps."

Stevi revealed the couple had made it to “sixth base” during their time on the show together but their romance has really moved on since.

He told The Sun on Sunday: “We have had a really great connection in bed since the start. If we were at sixth base before, now we’re definitely at 10 – the sex is very magical.

“Instead of saying ‘shag’, now I say ‘make love’. When you have a one-night stand with someone then it’s just a shag.

“But when you’re in a relationship and in love, you say ‘make love’. So I would say that I’m making love to my fiancée Chloe-Jasmine tonight.” The ROMANCE!

Stevi made no secret of the fact he was looking for love during his time on the X Factor but admits he never thought it would be with a “posh bird” like Chloe.

And it seems Chloe was just as surprised. She said: “I had no idea Stevi was going to propose so when he got down on one knee, I didn’t understand at first.

“He pulled this box out of the bag he’d given me and said, ‘Babe, will you marry me?’

“I was shocked, I couldn’t believe he wanted to marry me.”

Chloe was quick to thank her X Factor mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini for taking her through to the finals so she had the chance to get to know Stevi, and Chloe thinks Stevi should have pal Simon Cowell as his best man.

The couple, who have reportedly signed up to appear on Celebrity Big Brother together, are planning to get married in Essex but their relationship almost ended early on as they didn’t go on their first proper date until March and Chloe got fed up waiting.

She said: “We hadn’t had a proper meal, just the two of us, and one day I decided I’d had enough.

“We were in a Sainsbury’s car park. Stevi wanted to buy a baguette and salad, and I lost it and just shouted at him, ‘When are you going to take me for dinner?’

“He was like, ‘OK, OK babe’. It wasn’t at a Harvester either, although he has taken me to Harvester in Essex since then.”

Stevi bought a ring and a handbag worth £10 which he stuffed with a newspaper and tissue to hide the box and he gave the bag to Chloe at a restaurant on her birthday.

He told her to look inside the bag but she refused because she thought something was going to pop out and scare her, so Stevi had to take the ring out himself.

The singer then got down on one knee and their fellow diners clapped as he proposed.

And now the proposal is out of the way, they are even thinking about having kids.

Stevi, who is already father to daughter Summer from a previous relationship, said: “I’m 35 this year and I’m getting broody. I’d love to have a boy next.”
