Last year, one X Factor contestant stood out from the rest for her raw talent and undeniable star quality…

OK. Not quite. But Honey G was the name on everyone's lips thanks to the 139314 different controversies, fixing scandals surrounding her involvement in the show and for just being an all-round LEGEND.

The rap sensation – whose real name is Anna Gilford – has now come out and revealed she's gay.

"I have dabbled with men before, but I’m gay and looking for a female partner that I want to settle down with," she told The Sun.

She added: "I was DJing in Ayia Napa and I met someone out there and that was the turning point. I didn’t have real girlfriends until I finished university."

Sidenote: Can we all just appreciate Honey G was a DJ in Ayia Napa? Gutted we missed her on our obligatory girl's holiday.

During the interview (and accompanying photo shoot showcasing her new look) Honey also explains that, even though her friends and family knew, she wasn't ready to come out to the public while on The X Factor.

The rap artiste also revealed that she had previously had the opportunity to come out as lesbian on Channel 4's First Dates, but decided she didn’t want to reveal her sexuality 'that way.'

And while Honey – whose ultimate crush is Queen Latifah – says she's not on dating sites or apps, she has revealed how any possible suitors should get in touch.
