The internet is a strange place – you can spend your whole day on there cyber stalking your favourite celebrity, or you can even make yourself famous, if that’s what takes your fancy.
And YouTubers Zoella Sugg and Alfie Deyes did just that and have been gracing the red carpets of film premieres and other glamorous events in recent weeks.
But they may have reached a new and amazing level of success after hinting they’ve taken part in the recording of Band Aid 30.
Zoella and Alfie, also known as PointlessBlog, turned up at the London studio where the track was being recorded today but remained coy on their exact reason for being there.
When asked why they were at the studio, Alfie told us: “I don’t even know what we’re allowed to say,” with Zoella adding: “I don’t know, we’re being part of it.”
She continued: “We’re basically here to support everything and come and see what’s going on, which is really exciting.”
When asked if there was any particular part of the song they wanted to sing, Zoella’s brother and fellow famous YouTuber Joe Sugg said: “My favourite bit of the song is Bono’s bit, obviously but I don’t think they’ll give that to us somehow.”
The trio said they loved the last Band Aid song released in 2004 but added that they were too young to remember the first one in 1984.
Singers such as One Direction, Emeli Sande, Olly Murs, Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding are lending their vocals to the track which has been organised by Sir Bob Geldof.
The song is being released on Monday to raise funds to stop the spread of Ebola.
The three vloggers admit they were surprised to be asked to attend the recording session along with such big names.
Joe said: “It’s the most surreal thing ever. I’ve only just woken up, what’s going on, there’s cameras there, there’s people waiting outside. It’s just crazy.”
The song, which is a reworked version of the original 1984 track Do They Know It’s Christmas? will have its first play during the results show of the X Factor on Sunday night.
