It was reported earlier that Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid, who have been together since 2015, have split up.
A source told The Sun: "Sadly Zayn and Gigi have separated. "They are no longer a couple but they do remain close and are supportive of each other."
Zayn then took to Twitter to confirm the news, writing: "Gigi and I have had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and as a friend."
"She has such an incredible soul. I'm grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ."
Zayn has now followed up his post with an emotional Instagram picture, in which he appears to be crying.
Gigi and Zayn met at a Victoria's Secret after party, and got together in late 2015.
