We bloody well hope so

Zayn Malik is an odd duck isn't he? Before we get death threats off angry Directioners (again), let's look at this rationally: most solo artists do some interviews as promo for their upcoming album. Zayn… Zayn gets a face tattoo.

The ex-1D star unveiled his new look last Friday, instantly racking up hundreds of thousands of likes and billions (probably) of comments about what he'd done to his precious face.

The inking, which sits on his right temple, seems to be a black and white rendering of some birds carrying a banner saying M.O.M – which everyone first thought was a tribute to Mummy Malik.

But on second thoughts, it could also stand for Mind Of Mine – the title of his first ever solo album, which is scheduled for release on 25 March 2016. A YEAR TO THE DAY SINCE HE QUIT ONE DIRECTION, YES.

Celebrity tattoo artist Kevin Paul reckons it must be a fake because Zayn "would[n't] be that silly".

But then even he isn't entirely sure…

Hmm.

HOWEVER, there does seem to be new and overwhelming evidence to suggest Zayn's face tattoo was a lie – and that came (apparently) from Gigi Hadid's Snapchat.

Some clever millennial screengrabbed this Snap of Zayn dressed as Deadpool, and what's that? NO FACE TATT?

Ooh, Zayn.
