Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have split up after more than two years together.
The news first broke as fans noticed Zayn had unfollowed Gigi on social media. It was then reported that the pair had decided to part ways after 'drifting apart', but remained on good terms.
"Sadly Zayn and Gigi have separated," a source told The Sun.
"They are no longer a couple but they do remain close and are supportive of each other."
Now Zayn has taken to Twitter to confirm the news himself.
"Gigi and I have had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and as a friend," he wrote.
"She has such an incredible soul. I'm grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ."
Gigi also posted a message on Twitter confirming the split.
Zayn and Gigi got together back in 2015, shortly after Zayn broke off his engagement to Little Mix's Perrie Edwards.
The couple have had several bumps along the way in their romance and reportedly split back in May 2016, around the time of Gigi's 21st birthday.
However, in 2017 rumours were flying around that the couple were engaged and happier than ever.
Reports now suggest that this latest split is final.
“This is definitely the end for now, but this isn’t a bitter split and they both have respect for each other," the source told The Sun of this recent split.
“It’s a mutual decision so no one has completely ruled out a reunion in the future, but for now that’s not where their heads are at."
