It was reported last week that Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have split up, after a shocking incident involving the former One Direction star and Gigi’s mother Yolanda. US showbiz website TMZ reported that Zayn was charged for four criminal offenses of harassment and, although the official document says he pleaded guilty to one, other documents show he pleaded no contest.
After previously “adamantly” denying he had struck Yolanda – grandmother to Zayn and Gigi’s 13-month-old daughter Khai – it has been reported that the 28-year-old singer “shoved” Yolanda, 57, into a dresser, “causing her mental anguish and physical pain”. The argument, which Zayn has not denied, allegedly took place at the end of September, while Gigi, 26, was in Paris.

According to documents seen by TMZ, during the exchange, it is claimed that Zayn called Yolanda a “f--king Dutch slut” and ordered her to “stay away from [my] f--king daughter”, referring to her as “the f--king sperm that came out of [my] f--king c---.”
Zayn is apparently also accused of harassing Gigi, reportedly telling her on the phone to “strap on some f--king balls and defend your partner against your f--king mother in my house.”

The court documents also state that Zayn tried to fight a security guard, who was present in the house. The former One Direction star has been fined and sentenced to 90 days probation for each count, totalling 360 days. He has been ordered to complete an anger management class and a domestic violence programme, and must also have no contact with Yolanda or the security guard.
Before news of the charges became known, Zayn had taken to Twitter to address the incident, writing, “As you all know, I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in.”
He continued, “In an effort to protect that space for [Khai], I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s, who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago. This was and should still be a private matter, but it seems for now there is divisiveness, and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.”
A source has claimed that there had previously been tension between Zayn and Yolanda, which erupted after he suspected she had leaked news of their pregnancy to the press last year.
Gigi, meanwhile, released a brief statement following the news via a spokesperson, who said, “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”
