Zayn Malik hints he’s being ignored by One Direction!

After leaving One Direction in March 2015, Zayn Malik declared he’d have four friends for life. But, just 10 months on, it seems that’s far from the truth.

In a new interview with Billboard, Zayn (who the magazine describe as ‘standing in a dimly lit studio, spliff hanging from his lips and whiskey tumbler in hand’) explains that communication with his former bandmates and the One Direction team has broken down.

“The truth of it is, you can think one thing about a situation and the total opposite can happen,” Zayn said. “I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven’t received calls from a lot of people. I’ve reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it’s stuff you overcome in time.” Ouch.

Despite this, Zayn – who’s set to release his debut LP this year – insists that when it comes to their music, there is no rivalry between him and Harry, Louis, Niall and Liam. “There are no sides to pick,” he adds. “We’re not going head-to-head.”

Zayn, 22, now splits his time between LA and his house in London and by the sounds of it, he’s planning to spend most of 2016 writing.

“I’ll come down here and record maybe seven songs a night,” he says in the studio..

“That’s because I’m enjoying what I’m doing. I’m not censoring myself anymore, so I’m not tired. I love it.”
