You know when you kinda already know something, but hearing it just makes it so much worse?
Yeah, well that's us at heatworld this morning. Because Zayn Malik has confirmed he wouldn't join One Direction if he had the opportunity again.
We're not exactly surprised by this news (he did say once that he never wanted to be in One Direction) but it still hurts OK?
In an interview with ES Magazine, Zayn revealed what he would tell his younger self if he had the opportunity do start things over. 1D fans beware: it ain't pretty.
"Don’t do it," he said.
:(
Oh, Zayn. Stamp on our last hopes of a complete One Direction reunion, why don't you?
"I would say: 'Do your research and be a bit more prepared about certain situations before you make a decision,'" he continued.
The Pillow Talk singer admitted that at the time he was very ignorant and thought going on The X Factor would mean he'd win a million pounds and come out of the competition with a contract.
"And I was like: 'Shit. All my problems are solved. I win a million pounds and that's it. Simple… You're only 17, your dreams are immature. You see what you want.”
A million pounds, you OK hun?
Despite quitting the band in 2015 (petition to make 25 March a national day of mourning, anyone?), Zayn does admit that he is "super thankful" for everything that has happened as a result of him being in One Direction.
But he just wishes that he'd been able to wait a couple more years before becoming famous.
"I've never been able to have, what's the word? Anonymity. If I could go back, I'd have a few more years of anonymity."
Not quite sure it works like that, Z, but we get your point.
Zayn also admitted in the interview that he never actually wrote the statement released when he quit the band: "Look how it is worded. I'm not a 35-year-old lawyer. I don't write like that."
We've been living a lie people, A LIE.
