Just when you thouhgt we'd all moved on from the whole 'Zayn leaving One Direction' thing (or at least tried to), another bombshell about why Malik may have left the band is dropped.
One Direction's songwriter Jamie Scott, who wrote some of the band's biggest hits, revealed that Zayn had reached breaking point after touring for so long.
Speaking to the Sunday People, he said:
“Zayn went because he’d had enough. Have you ever been on the road for four years? These guys aren’t at home.
“There is no way the same thing is going to run through all five guys, that they’re all going to want to be on the road so much together. Eventually he got to a point where he’d had enough.
“It was, ‘OK, I don’t want to be in this band any more’. It was that simple, it was human instinct kicking in. People want it to be complicated and have secret reasons but that is what it was.”
Scott also added that behind the scenes, the boys really were mates - and Harry was not the leader of the group. He also revealed that the boys would keep going as long as they could:
"With Backstreet Boys and Take That you saw the end coming. With 1D, if the music keeps reinventing they won’t break up. We discussed that.
“As long as the music is not dying and they’re crossing over to older fans, there is no reason to break up and they want to go on and keep the ride going.”
