Zayn Malik’s birthday raises THOUSANDS for charity

One Direction’s Zayn Malik has proved what a great guy he is by using his birthday as an opportunity to raise lots and lots of cash for charity.

Knowing that the band’s devoted fans would want to send him a 22nd birthday present, he decided to set up a JustGiving page so that his beloved Directioners could donate money to his chosen charity The British Asian trust, an organisation that helps communities in South Asia.

As an ambassador of the charity, Zayn was mega chuffed when fans helped him raise £7, 280 in total.

He took to his Twitter to share a big, fat message of gratitude: "This is amazing thank you to Everyone involved!!"

To add to his adorable-ness, Zayn also quoted Taylor Swift in his first birthday tweet earlier in the day, writing: “Feeling 22 ooo hoo ! Ha thanks for the love x.”

The ‘mysterious one’ of the band spent his special day celebrating with producer pal Naughty Boy and even posted a snap onTwitter, his first TwitPic as a 22-year-old.
