Zayn Malik’s sister has been sent vile death threats after she uploaded a picture of a Christmas tree to Instagram.
Safaa, 14, was sent cruel comments and taunts, with people warning her and her dual-faith family of trouble for her actions.
Zayn’s father follows Islam but his mother Trisha was born a Christian.
And Safaa was inundated with comments from people who said she was a disgrace for posting a picture of a tree which is decorated during a religious festival that is not part of the Muslim faith.
She has removed the nasty comments and the post has in fact also been liked more than 12,000 times.
A source told the Daily Star: "Christmas is very important to Trisha because she was brought up a Christian. The hate that Safaa received was just disgusting."
Zayn is yet to comment on the hateful words but he has spoken out to offer his support to his former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson who lost his beloved mother Johannah Deakin to leukaemia this week.
He tweeted: "@Louis_Tomlinson love you bro! All of your family is in my prayers. Proud of your strength and know your mum is too x."
