They’ve been engaged for a few months, but it looks like hot Hollywood couple Zendaya and Tom Holland may not be walking down the aisle as soon as we’d hoped. We’re told that, while Tom is keen to get hitched as soon as possible – even if it means a private ceremony with just the two of them – Zendaya wants to postpone the big day and concentrate on her career.
‘If Tom could elope with Zendaya, he would, but she’s way too level-headed for that,’ an insider tells heat. ‘She has a vision of how she wants her wedding to be, and that includes all her family being there and having a proper celebration. They both looked at their schedules and tried to figure out a way to fit it in this year, but there’s just no way, and there’s even some question about whether they’ll be able to manage it in 2026.’
Zendaya and Tom, both 28, first met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2016. They were pictured kissing in July 2021 before going Instagram-official that September. At the start of this year, Zendaya was spotted with a rock on her engagement finger and a family insider confirmed that Tom proposed between Christmas and New Year. But it seems there’s little time for romance, never mind a wedding, as the A-list pair have never been more in demand.
They’re starring alongside each other in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming historical epic The Odyssey, while Zendaya recently finished filming The Drama with Robert Pattison and will soon be preparing to promote it. She’s also voicing the daughter of Shrek and Fiona in the upcoming Shrek 5, as well as returning as Rue in the highly anticipated third series of teen drama Euphoria. Meanwhile, Tom is set to film Spider-Man: Brand New Day this summer, where he’ll reprise his role as the superhero alongside his fiancée again, who plays love interest MJ.
Our source says, ‘Both Zendaya and Tom are very driven, so it’s no surprise work is their priority over their personal lives. But it’s still not easy – that’s one of the big challenges when it comes to being part of a superstar couple. When they do get married, it’s going to be a huge event. They both have so many friends, there will be a ton of industry people there. It’s just a matter of waiting until they have the time.’
Last week, Zendaya’s stylist and close friend Law Roach also confirmed that the couple are unlikely to get hitched this year. When asked if he would be helping with the wedding dress he said, ‘Of course’, adding, ‘It’s far away. They’re both making a bunch of movies this year. I’m resting up for 2026.’
While they’re yet to set a date for the big day, our insider says that Tom has been making other future plans. ‘He’s talked about wanting to start a family, but that’s very far off,’ we’re told. ‘Zendaya’s also got a few massive projects in development and she doesn’t want to drop that ball.’
Tom has spoken about how he plans to slow down once he becomes a dad. ‘When I have kids, you will not see me in movies any more,’ he said earlier this year, adding, ‘Golf and dad – I will just disappear off the face of the earth.’
The pair – who primarily live in London – are also said to be on the hunt for a new home. Our source says, ‘Zendaya has a place in LA. They’re be living there while they’re shooting Spider-Man together, but they’re actually looking to buy somewhere together in the US. They want a place that they create together. There’s no big rush, but they are searching. They might not be able to manage a wedding this year, but they want to at least get started on their nest.’
