Love Island producers majorly spiced up the first Love Island 2025 recoupling by trying something new on day one this year.
A LOT has happened since then, so allow us to freshen your memories; basically the girls had already arrived in the villa and were gathered on the lawn by Maya. They were then told they needed to pick a dating profile visible on a heart-shaped sign on the lawn. Each one of these dating profiles represented one of the OG boys and whoever they picked they would be coupled up with. Dating profiles sans pictures, btw.
In other words – a totally blind first coupling, and to be honest, it set the tone for the rest of the series: expect the unexpected, and prepare for twists ahoy.
Anyway, OG Alima Gagigo picked Blu Chegini's profile, and when he entered the villa, he placed his foot firmly in his mouth by choosing to compliment all of the girls in one blanket statement (calling them all beautiful) as opposed to focusing his attention on the girl who had just picked him.
What followed what was one of the quickest deadenings (sp?) in Love Island history. The couple had a few chats, but seemed to declare the relationship a 'friendship couple' before we'd even had a chance to learn their names. It was bizarre tbh.
Also, Alima is a QUEEN, so what the heck happened here? Are the answers on the Love Island cutting room floor?
Naturally, we had to ask Blu what exactly happened here when he paid us a visit at heat Towers this week and he had a LOT to say about his brief coupling with Alima.
Speaking of the moment he stepped foot in the villa, Blu exclusively told us, 'I obviously go in there and am flabbergasted by Maya and then I'm also flabbergasted by all these girls. [I found out] I was coupled up with Alima and said something along the lines of, "But all the girls are beautiful," and that was just, like, word diarrhoea – me trying to compliment everyone.'
He continued, 'But there are also conversations me and Alima had after that and we were fine, we were good. After we spoke even more, we got to know each other more and got to know each other's backgrounds - things you don't really see - and, yeah, we were friends. There was nothing wrong with that. And then we had even more conversations after that that weren't aired. It just got to a point where she didn't find me attractive and I didn't find her, not attractive, it's just more platonic. She was speaking to me in Portuguese and I was speaking to her in Spanish, and you didn't get to see that.'
FFS, Love Island producers, if you're reading this, please send a man in for Alima right now. Obviously things didn't work out with Blu, and then we thought we saw some hope when she grew close to bombshell Remell Mullins, but thanks to his antics in The Sleepover, the relationship quickly soured.
Although we LOVE that Alima stood her ground and refused to compromise with Remell re Poppy Harrison she is sans a man in the Love Island villa right now and we don't know if we could cope with Love Island 2025 without Alima tbh.
