Clarisse beauty routine

We love a bit of self-care and all this time at home has really given us an excuse to look after ourselves inside and out. Each week, we'll be asking the celeb lot to share their Sunday self-care routines, because taking care of yourself is more important than ever.

This week, it's all about Love Island's Clarisse Juliette. In the villa, she was heroically sassy, unapologetic and radiated main character energy, but when it comes to self-care she is undeniably wholesome. In fact., no one does self-care like Clarisse.

Clarisse chats exclusively to heat about skincare, #extra wellness treatments and the 'flawless' foundation she bonded with Mary Bedford over...

On self-care

Clarisse

"I am really into self-care, I love to make myself feel good just with anything I do. Whether that's making sure my house is really clean, so my mind is fresh or running a bath or laying down whenever I want or going to the gym. Some people will be like, "Oh, I don't want to spend so much money" but I need to look after myself and I'll be able to get this money back somehow. So right now, I'm going to spend this money and get a massage. I'll go to the gym and spend time in the sauna. I can't be bothered to wash my hair myself sometimes, so I'll go to my local shop and get my hair done. It's just little things like that, I just want to look after myself."

What does a typical self-care Sunday look like for Clarisse?

"I would definitely clean my house. I'm obsessed with cleaning my house. When I say clean, I mean mopping, hoovering everything and my house just smelling so fresh. I always clean to slow jams and old school R&B. Then I would sit down with a film or a series with as many snacks as possible. Any snack and every snack! I always make two drinks, water and something like a bottle of coke, too."

Self-care is truly a fun drink and a boring drink, we couldn't agree more.

On acne

Clarisse Juliette

"My skin is a really big thing for me, I've suffered from acne, so I've never been comfortable not wearing make-up. I've invested in good skincare and facials, just to make myself feel better. If I'm looking at myself and I feel unhappy about it, there are things I can do to make myself feel okay."

Suffering from acne is the worst, so how does Clarisse deal?

"I think just understanding that I'm not the only one and so many people in this world have acne. There are some people who have it really bad and some people who have it a little bit. It's just not that bad and there are ways to sort it out and it won't be like it forever. I'll look in the mirror and tell myself, "It's fine, this spot will go away in a few days," I'm just maintaining my skincare routine and hoping for the best, basically."

"I've also had to train myself that putting make-up over a spot isn't going to help, I have to let my skin breathe. It's about being more confident in yourself. It's not that deep to have a spot on your face. Some people can't even see the things that you can see on your face. They're looking at me like, "what's what are you talking about? That little thing there?" when it feels like the size of my head."

On Love Island make-up

Love Island's Clarisse

"I use a lot of Hourglass, I use theHourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick, the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer .I use the same foundation as Mary [Bedford] it was one of the first things we spoke about and then, besties!"

What was the Love Island beauty stash like? We bet it was MEGA.

"I was obsessed with the Fenty Beauty, I still use it now. They had the Fenty Skin Butta Drop Body Cream which was so good and their face cleanser as well was so nice. There was a lot of Soap & Glory, I love their Uplifting Body Wash, it smells incredible. There was so much of it too so you could really use it. You know sometimes when you get a nice product and you only want to use a little bit, where I could actually enjoy it."

On budget beauty buys

"There's an eyeliner from Collection and it's honestly about £3, but I've been using it forever. Some eyeliners are so expensive, but I can buy this one for next to nothing and it will last me months. It's the best ever."

On journals

Clarisse Juliette

"I've got this massive pink book with lots of plain pages and I'm constantly doing mindmaps and vision boards and just constantly writing down my ideas. I write down things if I'm thinking about a memory or even just drawing stuff. I'm always letting stuff out of my mind onto paper. I also want to get into meditation, but I want to learn how to do it properly. There's actually this thing on Netflix that tries to teach you, it's called Headspace Guide To Meditation. I really need to get into it, even if it's just for five minutes a day."

On extra wellness treatments

Clarisse

Has Clarisse ever tried anything boujee in the pursuit of wellness and beauty? Turns out, she's tried a vampire facial and we are in awe. We can barely find the strength for a bikini wax.

"I've tried a vampire facial, I had blood all over my face and it was red for about three days! It really did help, it's probably the craziest thing I've ever had done. It was worth it though, it helped with pigmentation and making my skin glow."

On really good advice

"My Grandad was 95 and sadly passed away last month, but he always said just to live life in the moment and make sure you have a good one. I think So all the time, I just live in the moment and I think that is the best advice ever."

We couldn't agree more.

Quickfire round:

Show you’re currently binging? I'm watching the series You.

Go-to cuppa? I always drink green tea, I only have herbal tea. I've never had a cup of coffee in my life!

Go-to loungewear brand? I love SKIMS.

Favourite face mask? The ZO Skin Health Complexion Clearing Masque.

Go-to takeaway order? I love a Chinese. My order is obviously vegetarian, but I get vegetable chow mein, spicy black bean sauce with mixed vegetables and usually steamed rice.

Favourite candle? I love Nest Grapefruit, it's the best candle in the world. When people come to my house you can smell it from downstairs.
