Love Island winners Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey are expecting their first child together, revealing the news just a month after they announced their amicable split.

Cara broke the news of her pregnancy to OK! Magazine: "It’s a shame and a sad situation. I know a lot of people will think, well you’re going to have a baby together so just stay together – but we’re not going to do that just to look like the perfect couple.

"Me and Nathan would always speak about kids, we said maybe when we’re 30, but sometimes life doesn’t go to plan."

Cara then revealed that she found out she was pregnant just three days after her 19-year-old cousin passed away following a battle with cancer: "It was overwhelming and came when my family was going through a hard time.

"We found out I was pregnant three days after my 19-year-old cousin passed away from cancer."

She continued: "I’m not superstitious, but my family and I are looking at it like we’ve been given a new life after one was taken away.

"I know it sounds cliche but I believe things like this are meant to be."

The pair reportedly have no plans to get back together and Nathan has yet to speak out about the news.

However, Cara's Love Island bestie Olivia Buckland posted the cutest tribute to her 'two best friends' on Instagram.

She wrote: "When you can finally celebrate & talk about your best friends news. This lady right here is one of the strongest souls I have ever met. I'm so proud of you. @cara_delahoyde"

Cara and Nathan met on Love Island last summer (and then won the whole thing) and have been loved-up since.

They moved in together and often talked about the prospect of having kids and marriage.

However, a source told The Sun: "They’ve both mutually agreed to call it quits.

"It hasn’t been an easy decision but in the end they decided things would be better apart."

Cara confirmed the spilt by tweeting: "Me & nath have split. sometimes love just isn't enough, but what will be will be thankyou for everyone's support lately" and retweeted fellow Love Island pal Olivia Buckland's message saying 'nothing changes' her friendship with the pair of 'beautiful people.'
