Two *Love Island contestants have been sent home in a shock eviction after being put to the public vote.
Rachel Fenton and Daniel Lukakis were given the boot after coming last in the voting results – as they found out only when hostess with the mostess Caroline Flack paid a surprise visit to the villa.
After turning up on a speedboat (it makes sense in context), Caroline told the Islanders: "Unfortunately I'm not here to join the party.
"I'm here to deliver some important news. As you know, the public have been voting for the couple they think are the perfect match. But what you don’t know is that the Islanders in the two couples will the fewest votes risk being dumped from the Island today."
She went on to reassure newest contestant Adam that he and his lady-friend Olivia were immune from the vote.
But Rachel, Daniel, Zara Holland and Rykard Jenkins were all up for eviction, and after some deliberation, the rest of the Islanders chose to send Daniel and Rachel home.
Speaking to Digital Spy following his departure, Daniel said: "I think I left at the right time. The time in the villa was over for me, and I wasn't finding the right person.
"I trust the Islanders' judgement - it was my time to leave."
He added that he "didn't fancy" Zara, who he'd paired up with earlier in the programme, and that her Miss GB title "didn't impress" him.
However, he did blast Rykard and Olivia for sleeping together in the villa, saying he "felt betrayed by them".
"I knew Nathan and Cara, and Tom and Sophie had [sex]. I think I was the only one not to have sex in there! [But] I can't believe Rykard and Olivia had sex - it angered me a little bit," Daniel went on.
"Obviously [I] backed off and let him recouple with Rachel, and I felt betrayed because I was trying to be a good friend by letting him get to know her. I told him I had really wanted to get to know Rachel as much as he did but he said to me he really liked her so I let him get on with it.
"He just never told me that - it just goes to show you never know. There's a lot more to be seen and more to unfold."
