Stars of Love Island have been paying tribute to 2016 star Sophie Gradon, on what would have been her 33rd birthday. Sophie, who appeared on the second series of the hit ITVBe show, tragically took her own life on 20th June 2018.

Sophie's friends and former Love Island co-stars have now been paying tribute to the Geordie girl, with former Miss Great Britain star Zara Holland leading the messages. Zara, who struck up a close friendship in the villa with Sophie, shared a number of photos of the pair together, writing, 'Happy Birthday Baby Girl 💜 I think about you every day, love you so much. My thoughts are with you beautiful family today. X'. [sic]

Olivia Buckland, who is now known as Olivia Bowen after marrying Alex Bowen last month, took to Twitter to write, 'Happy birthday to a beautiful angel in the sky. Love & thoughts are with you, your family and friends. 💕'. [sic]

Scott Thomas then added, 'Happy bday Soph 🙏❤️'.

Love Island 2016 star Rachel Fenton also paid tribute to Sophie, sharing a stunning photo to her Instagram. Rachel wrote, 'Happy birthday Soph ❤️ so missed'. [sic]

Tragic news of Sophie's death first broke back in June this year, with a statement from Northumbria Police reading, "At about 8.27pm yesterday (June 20) police attended a property in Medburn, Ponteland, where sadly a 32-year-old woman was found deceased.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. A report will now be prepared for the coroner."

Then, just a few weeks after her death, Sophie's boyfriend Aaron Armstrong was found dead at his home, not long after he posted a heartbreaking tribute to his girlfriend on Facebook. Sharing a photo of the pair together, Aaron wrote, 'I will never forget that smile I love you so so much baby your my world forever ever and always ❤️❤️' [sic]
