Despite Tommy Fury being all set to swap his life of luxury for a dingy campsite Down Under, his appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is now firmly off the cards. And a source tells heat that Tommy pulled out of the hit show hoping the move will land him back in Molly-Mae’s good books.
‘Tommy didn’t take the decision to pull out of I’m a Celeb lightly – not least because they were offering him an absolute fortune and he really loves the show,’ we’re told.
‘This series is shaping up to be the biggest one ever, so for him to be invited on was a huge deal. But Tommy also knows there was only one reason ITV really wanted him, and that was to spill the beans on Molly-Mae. That just isn’t something he’s comfortable doing.’
The boxer, 25, split from his fiancée, also 25, in the summer, and has been desperate to win her back ever since. While promoting his memoir, Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life As A Fury, Tommy recently gushed about his now-ex, saying he’ll love her and their one-year-old daughter Bambi ‘until the day I die’. He also denied the cheating allegations that are said to have led to their split and publicly vowed to win her back, stating, ‘I know what I have to do in order to resolve things.’
The comments came after Molly-Mae was spotted wearing her engagement ring, leaving fans hopeful this Love Island golden couple could still get their five-year relationship back on track. And now, we’re told that Tommy’s hopes of rekindling his romance are a big reason behind cancelling his jungle dream. The source says, ‘What happened between them is private, and Tommy was worried about how Molly-Mae would react if he went on the show and started telling everyone about their relationship. The other worry was that a lot of people could potentially come out of the woodwork and make claims about how he treated Molly-Mae. If he’s in the jungle and unable to answer back, it could drive a huge wedge and cause problems for them when he gets out.’
‘Tommy decided he couldn’t risk letting her down,’ adds the source.
‘Molly-Mae is the mother of his child and he’s determined that, at the very least, they remain close for Bambi’s sake. If missing out on I’m A Celeb ensures that, it’s a price worth paying.'
