The 2018 BRITs Critics’ Choice Award winner has been revealed

The BRIT Awards have announced the winner for the highly acclaimed Critics’ Choice Award for 2018. Singer Jorja Smith joins previous winners such as Adele and Sam Smith the winner of this year's award can expect big things in the coming years.

Jorja has been announced as winner of Critics’ Choice Award and it comes at the end of an amazing year for her. Earlier in the year she teamed up with Drake on ‘Get It Together’ and featured on his ‘More Life’ project. She has also caught the attention of UK music critics with her debut single 'Blue Lights'.

Speaking about her award Jorja said, "I cannot believe it, it's been an unforgettable 2017 during which I've fulfilled so many of my dreams."

She went on to say, "There's lots more to come in 2018 from all of us and I will do my best to make it another memorable year!"

Jorja will be presented with the award on the 13th January 2018 at the nominations launch, and will be the first recipient for the brand new award designed by Sir Anish Kapoor.

Last week the new design of the award was unveiled, it is the first award to be designed by a sculptor, and follows this year's design which was by the renowned architect Dame Zaha Hadid.

2018 marks 10 years of the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award. The first recipient of the award was Adele who was little known at the time. Subsequent winners have included Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and last year Rag 'n' Bone Man took home the prestigious award.

Next year's BRIT Awards will take place on Wednesday 21st February from London’s O2 Arena.
