It’s no secret heatworld loves to spend a summer’s weekend lolling around in a field with good friends, good music and good vibes. The big three. So, it’s no surprise we ventured to a fair few festivals this year.
To mark the (very) end of the festival season, we headed to The Social Festival in Kent, which took place on the 29th and 30th September, for one last wild weekend.
Here’s why we had a blast.
There were five stages with LOADS of brill artists
Set in the Kent County Showground in Maidstone, the festival had five stages across the weekend, The Meadow, The Caravan, The Stables, The Barn & The Haystack – which played host to a number of big-name DJs and up-and-coming acts.
Carl Cox headlined on the Friday night (rumour has it he enjoyed a quiet pint in a local pub some mere moments before his set – isn’t the countryside fab?), with the likes of Jackmaster, Black Coffee and Nina Kravitz all playing on Saturday.
Fabric took over The Barn stage for the weekend, and festival founder Nic Fanciulli also played on Friday.
It was like one giant playground
Not just all about the music, there were also plenty of other activities to keep you entertained.
With bumper cars, big scary spinning rides and other fairground stalls, it was basically a giant playground for big kids.
There was glitter and disco balls and hair braiding.
There was so much glitter flying around, at times we weren’t sure whether we were in East Kent or Ibiza – but then the Arctic wind blew and we were very much reminded.
To help with the illusion, Black Coffee played an Ibiza-style set under the trees which were filled with glitter disco balls and bunting.
There was also body glitter, braiding and accessory stalls all over the place.
The food stands were LIT.
3 words. 11 letters. Pimp My Fries.
There was also a selection of other food stuffs, including Carribean, Fish & Chips, Chinese, Pizza and Wraps.
The VIP area was poppin’
Yeah. That’s right. V.I.P – we don’t like to do things by halves.
The VIP area at The Social had a fab Beetle Juice cocktail bar offering cocktails for £5.
In the main area, there were also some pretty lush VIP loos (£10 for a weekend pass), which made the whole wriggling out of a playsuit while trying to wee at a festival with dignity a whole lot easier – and less gross.
