The nominees for the prestigious BRITs Critics' Choice Award have been revealed and include Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi, 20 year old R&B singer Mahalia, and Newcastle-based musician Sam Fender.
Coming from all over the UK, these three nominees bring a mix of musical genres to the music scene including pop, rock, R&B and soul. In the past we've seen many incredibly famous people winning the Critics' Choice Award, including Ellie Goulding, Adele and Jessie J, so the winner of this award is bound to make an impression on the music business.

The first nominee, Lewis Capaldi has had an incredible year since his debut track 'Bruises' was released. He's also set to join Bastille on tour across the UK and Europe. Speaking about his nomination he said, "Absolutely honoured to have been shortlisted for this year's BRITs Critics' Choice award alongside two unreal artists."

The second nominee, Mahalia has enjoyed a string of releases which have gained a lot of interest from a number of publications. Mahalia has also toured with the amazing Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, and last year's Critics' Choice winner Jorja Smith!

The last, but definitely not least nominee is Sam Fender, who said of his nomination, "I've been watching the BRITs since I was a child, and my brother would let me stay up and watch them live; so to be nominated for the Critics' Choice award is crazy. What an honour! A big thank you to anyone who has put their faith in my music."
Earlier this year, singer Jorja Smith was announced as the winner of the 2018 BRITs Critics’ Choice Award. Jorja teamed up with Drake on ‘Get It Together’ and featured on his ‘More Life’ project, she has also caught the attention of UK music critics with her debut single 'Blue Lights'.
Returning for a second year, comedian Jack Whitehall has been confirmed as the host of the BRIT Awards 2019. After presenting this year's awards, which went down very well with viewers, he has announced his return to the show.
Speaking about his return, Jack said, "I am excited to be invited back to host The BRITs for a second time, I had a great time at this year’s ceremony and look forward to another exceptional night of music and entertainment."
We caught up with Jack Whitehall ahead of this year's BRITs where he revealed how he was preparing for the awards ceremony.

The BRIT Awards 2019 will air live on ITV from London's O2 Arena on Wednesday 20th February.
