Dance DJ duo, The Chainsmokers have announced plans to create a film based on their 2017 hit 'Paris'. The Chainsmokers members, Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, revealed that Mickey Rapkin, the author of the book Pitch Perfect was based on, will write the screenplay for the new movie.

In a statement the duo said, 'We are beyond thrilled to have launched Kick The Habit Productions as we continue to bridge the gap between our overall artistic vision, the entertainment industry as a whole and our fans. The age of being only a musician is over and we’re excited to go all-in on this venture to curate, produce and create meaningful projects.'

They followed their statement with a post on Instagram accompanied by a caption which read, 'Hey y’all, so we started a production company called Kick The Habit (hehe get it?) and we sold our first project to Tri Star! It’s a film written by the mega talented @mickeyrapkin and it’s based on our song Paris. Thank you to those who have believed in us all this time and pushed us to pursue our creative endeavors!' 'Paris' was released in January 2017 and reached the Top 5 in the UK charts. The song's official music video was released the following month and shows clips of Drew and Alex interspersed with clips of American model Martha Hunt. Martha is in a house which gradually rises into the air, as Drew and Alex can be seen standing on the ground looking upwards.

In April last year, The Chainsmokers revealed the inspiration behind some of their singles, explaining, 'We used Paris as a metaphor to convey that he [Drew's friend] felt like he was in a place where everything was fine, while being acutely aware of other people’s concern for him. Paris always being this romantic idealised place, the song is about escaping your reality, a reality often void of excitement and in your mind being somewhere else with someone else.'

Earlier this year, The Chainsmokers were announced as one of the Top 10 highest earning DJs according to Forbes.

Now take a look at the Top 10 highest earning DJs of 2018:
