World’s Saddest Rapper™ Drake has officially pulled out of this weekend’s Wireless Festival 2014, leading to major changes in the event’s dual-city line-up.
Kanye West will now perform on two nights at London’s Finsbury Park, while in Birmingham, Rudimental will play an extra long set. AND WHO SAYS THE CAPITAL CITY GETS PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT?
In a statement issued via the festival organisers, Drake said:
"To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won't be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend. I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me.
“I will be focused on resting for a quick recovery. I have the best fans in the world and I can't wait to come back to make more incredible memories together."
Fans in Birmingham will also receive £20 of ‘Wireless Credit’ upon arrival on July 4th, which can be spent on food, beverages, merchandise or the funfair. So no Drake, but you can buy a burger and half a t-shirt.
Fans wanting a refund can request one from their ticket seller before the event but not at the event, so if you don’t want to see Rudimental go on about it for three hours, get in touch with your issuer now. Anyway: let’s hope Drake gets better soon and records a really sad album about how gutted he was to miss Salt-N-Pepa’s 35-minute comeback set.
