The old saying goes something along the lines of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it;' but Glastonbury founder-fella Michael Eavis has never been one to play by the rules. Remember the shit that went down when Kanye West was announced as headliner back in 2015? Well this news might just be more controversial than that.
Yup - Glastonbury's CHANGING ITS BLOODY NAME. Sort of.
Since there's no festival at the usual Worthy Farm location during its fallow year in 2018, Glasto will be rebranded The Variety Bazaar when it moves to its temporary (as yet unannounced) home in 2019.
Blimey.
Chatting to Glastonbury FM, founder Michael revealed: "I've been a risk taker all my life.
"In 47 years of taking risks, so far - touch wood - I haven't come unstuck. This might be one risk too far, I don't know." He then announced that the festival's new name will be The Variety Bazaar, asking: "It's a good name, don't you think?
"But presented by The Glastonbury Festival Team. The Glastonbury Festival Team presents...the Variety Bazaar."
So it's still sort of got Glastonbury in there shrugs.
Any news on where the festival's gonna be moving to in 2019, eh Michael? "It's halfway to the Midlands from here," he teased.
So basically we have no bloody idea.
