Guys, GUYS! That bloke out of Westlife, Markus Feehily (who we swear used to call himself Mark), is back after an 18-month break from the music industry to launch his solo career.

What’s Mark Markus been doing in the meantime, we hear you ask. Well, in addition to starting up his own catering business, he’s been writing music with production duo Mojam, who have previously worked with Sam Smith and Emeli Sande.

He’s also enlisted the help of Kylie Minogue’s creative director, stylist and photographer William Baker to help create the artwork for the single.

Love Is A Drug is described as “an epic, soulful song that’s sure to confound listeners’ expectations” and features “swelling strings, deliciously dark beats and a soulful gospel edge”. Ooh, very nice.

Markus sold more than 50 million records worldwide as part of Westlife and is glad to be back with full creative control over his solo work.

He said: “I’ve always had another side to me that no-one’s heard or seen before.

“I’m so thankful for my past and the incredible experiences it gave me but now, looking to the future, I’m excited by the prospect of creating and sharing music that comes from within. Songs that I’ve written about experiences that I’ve had – soulful, autobiographical pop music.”

Markus’ debut solo album will be released latest this year but you can listen to his new single above.

Enjoy!
