What's the coolest way to make your way onto a stage? Pushed on in a wheelchair like Nirvana's Kurt Cobain? MAYBE. How about rolling across the top of the crowd in a massive inflatable ball, the same way The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne does at most gigs? PERHAPS. But how about having a computer game version of yourself selected on a massive screen, before you explode out of the floor and shoot into the air along with a fountain of fireworks? DEFINITELY.
That's how all six lads from super-group McBusted rocketed onto the stage at The O2 in London. This stop on their Most Excellent Adventure Tour opened with their anthemic track, Air Guitar followed by more amazing McBusted numbers from their debut album, including Hate Your Guts and Get Over It.
But it wasn't long before the boys delved into the back catalogue of McFly and Busted hits, including One For The Radio, Thunderbirds Are Go and You Said No.
The crowd seemed equally as pumped for their new material as they were for the older classics, and thankfully both sounded excellent live.
You could tell all the guys were genuinely loving the show, shooting out cheeky banter between tracks, hopping on each other's backs and even staging a fake marriage, which saw them trapse through the middle of the arena decked out in dresses before flying into Busted's 2003 hit, Crashed The Wedding.
The biggest highlights included picking on random crowd members and getting them to smooch on a kiss-cam during It's All About You, descending into the middle of the arena in a DeLorean from Back To The Future and encouraging the twenty thousand strong crowd to light up the cavernous O2 Arena using their mobile phones, which made for a beautiful spectacle.
Unlike their name, McBusted don't feel stitched together as a band, you can tell they relish being on stage with each other, and love every minute of their insane 8-bit, Street Fighter-infused stage show, which is a spectacle to behold, let alone listen to.
There aren't many gigs where you'll sit through 80s movie trailers (which were undoubtedly lost on a large chunk of their very young fans), watch a 30ft computer game being played and seriously laugh at the madness that unfolds.
McBusted's Most Excellent Adventure Tour is some of the best fun you can have with your clothes on - although, we're pretty sure a lot of the predominantly female crowd would happily shrug those off for a single moment with Danny, James, Dougie, Matt, Harry or Tom.
The band have put together an astonishing live show, so much so that we even spotted some rockers from Kerrang and edgy male model, Ricki Hall, who turned out to see them. We can't wait to see how they handle the slew of festivals they're booked in for this summer. Just don't forget to take your air guitar.
