Naughty Boy is going to prison…

Ex-Con Factor, anyone?

Naughty Boy is heading to prison.

Not for crimes against Zayn Malik and the 1D fandom, but rather to find the next musical prodigy.

We're not sure if you'll find the next Sam Smith or Zayn Malik in there, buddy. We know Orange Is The New Black makes prison seem like a riot (pun very much intended), but in actuality, it's less about making kooky prison pals and more about trying to avoid getting addicted to smack.

Still, there's plenty of people pretty good at covering music in prison, although it's usually with a big bag marked 'swag' before they run off with it. But you never know, some of them might have picked up dancing skills, if crime nowadays is anything like the plot to West Side Story. And we're pretty sure it is.

Explaining this unusual move to The Sun, Naughty Boy - real name Shahid Khan - explained: “I want to help people in prison.

“Coming out of there is sometimes the hardest thing in life.

“You can imagine that there are people in there who are writing songs and can sing and they feel like they have to give up because of where they are.

“Whatever offence they’ve committed, everyone deserves a second chance. I want to make this year more about giving back and helping people.”

This is EXACTLY the kind of spin X Factor needs to liven things up a bit: Ex-Con Factor! Just imagine, Bloodshot Bill from Belmarsh cranking out football songs in his gravelly voice, while Cheryl looks on in disgust from behind bulletproof glass. Meanwhile Olly Murs tries his best to make small talk with the other contestants about burning a biro, so you can carve a prison tatt into your chest. That's TV magic, that is.

Still, prison can make good music. Bob Dylan's track, The Hurricane, is about the imprisonment of Rubin Carter. And that's pretty good, right? People like that one. Still, if this does manage to rehabilitate some prisoners, then that's a good thing.

Naughty Boy had a recent and very public falling out with One Direction's Zayn Malik, who dubbed the producer “a fat joke”, adding: “Stop pretending we’re friends, no one knows you.”

If they don't manage to patch things up, at least Naughty Boy will have some fearsome friends to intimidate Zayn with in future.
