Coronation Street’s Robert Preston ‘will DIE’ during ‘shooting’ on Christmas Day

Ever since Coronation Street's Tristan Gemmill, aka Robert Preston, announced he was leaving the soap after a dramatic few years, rumours have been rife about how he will exit the show.

And now a HUGE spoiler seems to have been leaked, suggesting the much loved character will 'die' during a Christmas Day 'shooting.'

It is said Robert will be gunned down, after the soap's villain Gary Windass' evil counterpart Derek Milligan tries to turn against Gary, when he gets drunk and starts to wave a gun around the Rovers Return.

But according to The Sun, the festive, merry atmosphere soon turns into distress as Derek lets off the gun, with Robert ending up in the firing line.

Inside number eight, Bethany confesses she's in love with Daniel and tells Gail how guilty she feels for taking advantage of his vulnerability.

A source told the newspaper, "Derek gets drunk and starts waving a gun around the pub. There's a tense stand-off then a massive fight between the two men and two people are shot, including Robert, who dies on Christmas Day.

"He make it to hospital but suffers a heart attack and dies off-screen in a bit of a snub to Tristan. It's left to Michelle to tell everyone he's dead."

The news of Robert's death seems to come at a convenient time for the character, after he found himself seeing Michelle Connor and Vicky Jefferies AND getting engaged to both at the same time.

And to make matters even worse, Vicky is now expecting Robert's child.

Only this would happen in a soap, right?

Tristan announced back in April that he'd decided to leave the soap to explore other acting options.

In his statement, the actor said, "Folks, I just wanted to let you know that the time has come for me to hang up the chef's gear and head for pastures new.

"There's still a lot of drama and shenanigans to come for Robert but I will be leaving Coronation Street later in the year."
