It's been reported that actress Helen Pearson, who plays Frankie Osborne in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, is leaving the show after 15 years.

According to a national newspaper, the 57-year-old will bow out of the popular soap shortly after her on-screen ex-husband Johnno Dean returns.

The last we saw of Johnno was 12 years ago when he left the Oaks after he cheated on his wife Frankie with his girlfriend who later went on to fall pregnant.

WATCH: Hollyoaks' Autumn trailer looks explosive.

Johnno returning to the village will be a major shakeup with the Osborne family when Frankie begins to wonder whether Jack's the love of her life. A TV source told a national newspaper, "Helen is a soap legend.

"Her absence will really be felt as she is part of the furniture at Hollyoaks. But she’s off to pastures new and it has been a really hard decision."

The publication has revealed that Helen has already filmed her last scenes and her on-screen exit will play out later this month.

Since 2002 Frankie has been through a lot of drama in the village; she struggled to deal with her son Craig's sexuality, she then had to grief her daughter Steph after she died in the fire at The Dog and of course, we'll never forget that time she had an affair with Ziggy Roscoe.
