If you’re looking for some festive fun in the capital this Chrimbo you’ll want to check out Shrek’s Adventure on London’s Southbank which has had a festive makeover with a magical swamp and Santa’s grotto – where you can meet up with the Big Man himself. We checked it out and here’s five reasons why you should put it on your festive hit list.

  1. Travel Out of This World

The adventure begins with a 4D bus ride where you’ll put on special glasses and be transported in a magical bus which flies out of the building at County Hall, splashing in the Thames as you zoom over Big Ben and into Far Far Away Land. It’s a magical start to your adventure as you’ll be swept away, flying alongside family favourites including King Fu Panda and some nasty witches before crash landing to take part in your adventure. The effects are amazing including smells, fog and whooshes of air and the bus transports you inside the fairytale.

  1. Watch fairytales come to life

It doesn’t matter how old you are, coming face to face with Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty never gets old. These fairytale classics will help you as you work your way through different worlds, collecting the magical ingredients you’ll need to summon Shrek and make your escape. You’ll come face to face with a brilliant hologram of Puss In Boots in the pub, free Pinocchio from the frightening wheel of torture and cook up a magic spell in the Muffin Man’s bakery.

  1. Take a selfie with Shrek

Once he’s done helping you escape from Rumplestiltskin’s prison you’ll get the chance to give the lovable green ogre a congratulatory handshake and a hug in person. Just don’t forget to email heat’s Spotted page afterwards, yeah?

  1. Practise your killer kung fu moves

The experience also includes a visit to Kung Fu Panda’s oriental Valley of Peace where you can bring out your inner ommmmmm and practice your moves with a martial arts simulator (which is actually harder than it looks!)

  1. Visit Santa’s swamp (yes, really!)

You may have visited Father Christmas in a snowy grotto but have you come face-to-face with him in a magical swamp before? Luckily his sleigh has crash landed at Shrek’s watery pad this year so you can make sure he checks you into the good list before you leave. There are also some Shrek themed Christmas songs to keep you entertained along the way!
