BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH IS THE PRETTIEST GIRL IN GIRL-TOWN. LOOK AT HIS PRETTY RIBBONS. LOOK AT HIS TWINKLY LITTLE TOES. Ahem. Sorry. We got a bit carried away there. Because, you see, the thing is, Benedict Cumberbatch wants to wear a dress and be all sparkly and princess* AND WE ARE OK WITH THAT.*
Sure, we might have just projected a whole bunch of weird sexual fantasties there, sorry about that. But the Sherlock star did honestly say his next role might be playing a woman, specifically, the actual Queen.
Speaking on the red carpet at last night’s The Imitation Game screening at the launch of the BFI London Film Festival, Benedict said he didn’t know why the government took so long to pardon Alan Turning – on whom the movie is based – after his prosecution in the 1950s for being gay.
“I don’t know,” he Cumberbatched. “I’m not the Queen or David Cameron. Maybe those will be our next roles. I’d like to see me in that frock.”
Wouldn’t we all, Benedict. Wouldn’t we all.
