Is it just us, or has 2018 been quite literally the best summer of all time?

Football almost came home, the weather has been bonkers, and we’ve done nothing but sit in pub gardens and smile since mid-June.

And all this merriment is making festival season all-the-more exciting. Our next conquest, Bestival, is coming up this weekend. Here are all the reasons why we’re expecting big things.

We travelled in style

Everyone knows the (only) bad thing about festivals is the absolute ordeal of having to queue for hours on end to get a bus or train home after three days of partying and very little sleep. So this year we travelled there using Drivy, an app that's essentially like Airbnb – but for car renting. And we really couldn't recommend it enough. All you have to do is sign up to the app, and it will locate a nearby Drivy car for you to use. After you've confirmed what time and for how long you'll be renting, you are then able to unlock the car using your smartphone. And you'll feel extremely smug seeing all the other festivalgoers head to the train station after it's all over.

It was all about girl power this year – with a line-up featuring the likes of MIA, London Grammar and Grace Jones.

The location couldn’t have been more ideal

Gone are the days when going to Bestival means traipsing all the way to the Isle Of Wight and having to endure a hungover ferry trip back. The festival now takes place in Dorset, which is not only straight forward to travel to, but scenic AF.

The weather was frankly INSANE

This year's Bestival took place literally just before the mega heatwave ended, and there wasn't even a cloud in sight, let alone a drop of rain.

It's a bold statement, but we're saying Bestival has the best stages of any other festival ever. Aside from the extremely aesthetically pleasing Temple stage, there was HMS Bestival, an actual boat.

By far one of the best aspects about Bestival is that it encourages people to dress up in line with a theme each year. This year's was circus, and everyone went all out.

Bestival takes place from 2 - 5 June at Lulworth Estate, Dorset. heatworld will be travelling to Bestival using Drivy. See their website for more information.
