So you know how there’s a brand new all-female Ghostbusters movie coming? You know – the one starring Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig?

Well as if that isn’t all great enough, it turns out original buster of ghosts, Bill Murray, is going to be in the film too!

Bill fuelled rumours that he’d be in Paul Feig’s upcoming movie when he was spotted near the Boston set over the weekend.

But, if you’ve got your hopes up that he’ll be playing his original 1984 character – Dr Peter Venkman – then alas, you’ll be disappointed. Birth Movies Death is citing a version of the film’s script that notes Bill’s on-screen appearance will not be as Dr Pete.

Instead, the Billster will reportedly have an extended cameo as a supernatural skeptic called Martin Heiss in a scene where he tries to debunk the new Ghostbusters team.

The veracity of this claim has yet to be confirmed by Sony Pictures.

The Ghostbusters reboot is due to hit UK cinemas July 2016.
