Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV, Saturday, 7pm)
It’s the penultimate show in this current series of Takeaway and The Boys have lined up a particularly starry I’m A Celebrity…Get Out Of Me Ear with that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini taking part to show what a good sport she is. With Ant & Dec barking instructions into her ear piece, Chezza met with a series of estate agents who were told she was planning to sell one of her homes. So we get to see Cheryl showing them what’s in the fridge - a picture of Louis Walsh, trays of pies and a bottle of Newcastle brown ale. Hilarity doth most certainly ensue.
The Jonathan Ross Show (ITV, Saturday, 9.25pm)
Wossy’s on a roll this series and this week’s chat-a-thon looks set to keep up the high standard of recent shows with a fascinating line up of Olly Murs, Russell Brand, Keanu Reeves and stand up comedian, Lucy Beaumont. Murs gives his views on fellow X Factor alumni One Direction and how they’re going to deal with the post-Zayn era; Brand gives his views on Top Gear and Clarkson, which might not be what you imagine, and Keanu gives his views on a possible new Bill & Ted film. My view is that would be weird.
The Big Painting Challenge (BBC1, Sunday, 6pm)
It may not have captured the public’s imagination like its obvious inspiration The Great British Bake Off but this art version has been a lovely weekly treat of a Sunday teatime. This week it’s the grand final in which he final four travel to Devon, where they have “to capture a sense of Britain’s seafaring heritage” at Dartmouth Royal Naval College, capture a sense of the naval platoon in motion and finally create one last painting, capturing Dartmouth Harbour.
Poldark (BBC1, 9pm)
This swoonsome period drama has smashed the Sunday night period opposition – getting way more viewers than Mr Selfridge and Indian Summers and it’s not hard to see why. Apart from hunky Aidan Turner being all strapping and buff as Ross Poldark it’s also got that classy soapy quality we love about the likes of Downton. This week Ross is going to get married to that Demelza, causing old Charles such amusement that he actually dies.
And don’t forget… Ratings may be down this year but Mr Selfridge (ITV, Sunday, 9pm) is still a bundle of fun and it’s the series finale this week. A fourth run has already been commissioned. ITV will be hoping it avoids series 2 of Poldark.
