It seems like only days ago that we were remarking how quickly Strictly Come Dancing came around and now it’s nearly over.

Time, eh?

Poor old Strictly has been hit by more scandals than you can shake a glittery stick at this season, whether it’s Jamelia crying “foul” after she was booted off, or the shocking (not shocking) revelation that the judges see dances before the live shows.

However, some things remain sacred in quarter-final week: the cringe-inducing songs.

Of all the songs available, in the actual world, why do BBC producers still manage to choose ones that make us want to turn our lugholes inside out?

To be clear, it’s not the songs themselves that give us the heebie-jeebies, it’s the context.

The theme of quarter-finals week is musicals sigh.

So poor old Kellie Bright is dancing to Oom Pah Pah from Oliver. You know, because it’s a song sung by cock-er-neys and Kellie’s in EastEnders. Bleurgh.

And Georgia May Foote will be doing her dance thing to Beauty And The Beast from, err, Beauty And The Beast because she is so beautiful! And childlike! Yuck.

We’ll still be glued to our tellyboxes, mind.

Kellie deserves better than this song choice. She really does!

Here’s the whole list:

Anita Rani and Gleb Savchenko will dance the Argentine tango to Cell Block Tango from Chicago.

Georgia and Giovanni Pernice will foxtrot to Beauty And The Beast from the show of the same name.

Helen George and Aljaz Skorjanec perform the paso doble to At The End Of The Day from Les Miserables.

Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani are going to rumba to Falling Slowly from Once.

Katie Derham and Anton du Beke are dancing the foxtrot to Maybe This Time from Cabaret.

Kellie and Kevin Clifton are performing the Viennese waltz to Oom Pah Pah from Oliver.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7pm on BBC1.
