how to dance less badly

We're not afraid to admit that most of us at Heat aren't the best of dancers, and it seems like we're not the only ones, because the contestants over on Britain's Next Top Model have also been having a mare with their dance skills. On the latest episode, which airs on Lifetime on Thursday at 9pm, the girls have to learn an African Kizamba dance, and then show off their newly-found skills on the runway.

The very thought of dancing in public, let alone on the runway, traumatises us. And if you feel the same, then you need to discover some of our top tips on how to improve your dancing skills, below.

Tip #1: Practice in your bedroom

Where nobody can judge you, and you can be free to experiment with different dance movements. Practice makes perfect, after all.

Tip #2: Listen to the music

To dance well, you need to match your dance moves to the beat of the song you're listening to. So, if it's a slow song, you can sway from side to side slowly. Or if it's an upbeat song, you can add a little more bounce into your movements.

Tip #3: Refrain from doing crazy dance moves

If you're not a good dancer, then start with very basic, simple dance moves, like swaying your hips to the beat. Avoid over-the-top movements at ALL COSTS.

Tip #4: Master the basic two-step

Honestly, once you've got this down to a T, you're basically half-way there.

Tip #5: Don't overthink it

Just go with the flowwwwww.

Tip #6: Get sassy

Add a bit of sass to your dance routine by throwing in the odd hair flip here and there. WORK IT, GIRL.

Tip #7: Don't drink too much

As tempting as it can be to just get drunk and dance the night away, alcohol will most definitely have an effect on your dance moves, in a bad way. Your coordination will go out of the window (as will your dignity).
