Geat news, fans of EastEnders… or Dean Gaffney. Or both!

The David Gandy lookalike is returning to* EastEnders* to reprise his role as Robbie Jackson – everyone’s favourite street sweeper!

Dean is coming back to the Square as part of on-screen mum Carol’s exit storyline.

Robbie originally left Walford in 2003 to move to India with his lady, Nita. But he returned in February 2010, when he walked his sister Bianca down the aisle at her second wedding to Ricky Butcher. He then returned to his family in India after revealing that Nita was six months pregnant.

Dean, 37, hasn’t actually seen the scripts for his upcoming six-episode stint, but he’s got a feeling about how this is going to go down.

“All they've told me is that Robbie, as always, is hapless in love and business, so I think this trend is continuing. And I believe he comes back with a son,” he divulged.

Dean revealed that he was out shopping with his good pal Corrie’s Ryan Thomas when he got the call from his agent about his exciting return to* EastEnders.*

“My agent said, 'Are you sitting down?' He said, 'They want you to come back to do a stint on the show,'” he said.

“I'm standing with Ryan, so then I had to put the phone down and we couldn't scream because we were in a supermarket.

“When I got outside, I just let off a big scream.”

Robbie and Wellard. RIP.

Sadly, when he makes his return to Albert Square, he won't be joined by his dog and best friend, Wellard, who died several years ago.

Shooting for his scenes starts mid-July and they are expected to air six weeks afterwards.
