Can I go on holiday now?

Get your card at the ready and book that weekend away, as self-contained accommodation is open for overnight stays in England with your household or support bubble. Result.

What's classed as a self-contained accommodation?

Self-contained accommodation means places where a kitchen, bathroom and toilet are available for one family only (or whoever you live with) during their entire stay. Although hotels are off-limit for now, you can pitch a tent, book an Airbnb or a cute little cottage in the country.

Can I travel with friends?

Want to ditch bae for your besties? You can only go on holiday with people that you live with, or are in your support bubble.

Am I allowed to book a trip to Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?

Currently, all non-essential travel between Scotland and the rest of the UK as well as anywhere outside of the UK remains restricted.

You shouldn't travel in or out of Northern Ireland except where it is essential to do so.

However, there is a glimmer of hope as there are no restrictions in place for travel into or out of Wales as long as you are travelling within the UK.

When do hotels, hostels and B&Bs open in the UK?

In the current government plans, hotels, hostels and B&Bs are set to open around 17 May in England. Before booking accommodation, check the cancellation policy as it'll be announced closer to the time whether or not this restriction is lifted.
