Jenna Coleman is quitting her role as Clara Oswald in Doctor Who so she can play Queen Victoria in a brand new ITV series, it's been revealed.
The 29-year-old has starred in Doctor Who for three years, playing opposite Matt Smith and then Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.
But she’ll be leaving after the Christmas special to play Queen Victoria in an eight-part drama called, er, Victoria.
It’s based on the actual queen’s diaries and shows the monarch aged 18 at the start of her lengthy reign.
A source told the Sun: “Jenna clinching the role was a closely guarded secret. There’s a lot of excitement about the series.”
The BBC hasn’t yet confirmed who will be taking over from Clara, or whether the Time Lord will go without a human companion for a while.
